Francesco Garuti is an Italian artist working in the fields of sculpture and theatre. Born in Reggio Emilia in 1993, he first studied agriculture, where he became passionate about the world of plants, graduating in 2015. His artistic calling, however, led him to enrol at the Nico Pepe Civic Academy of Dramatic Arts in Udine, where he graduated in 2019.

During his studies he deepened his knowledge of the leather mask typical of the commedia dell'arte, taking part in workshops on their construction. It was precisely while carving the wooden mould that he discovered his passion and talent for sculpture, a skill that further enriches his practice.

His research in sculpture is also shaped by his theatrical background: through a process of identification, he studies an action to impress upon the material.

He has worked as an actor in various national and international settings, also creating shows that premiered and were performed in France, Switzerland and Ireland.

Since 2021 he has exhibited in Rome, Bologna, Ferrara and Reggio Emilia.

One of his most significant projects is "Alberi comuni" (Common Trees), which combines sculpture with his botanical background and theatre.
